How to Plan for a Spring Break Pool Party

In Party Planning, Poolside Recipes by Platinum Pools

Early spring means college students are packing up swimsuits, board shorts, fancy clothing and any other item you can imagine.  College students across the country are heading to the biggest party of the year – Spring Break.  And then, you have those who decide to go home and enjoy the perfect pool right in their own backyard.  Just because your son or daughter doesn’t travel anywhere for Spring Break doesn’t mean that they don’t want to party.  So, why not plan a Spring Break Pool Party?

Even though some Texans will go Galveston, or to another famous beach for Spring Break, you must set the tone for your pool party with a theme that will excite the spring breakers and other guests.  Believe it or not, many people prefer swimming in a swimming pool over the beach. To throw the perfect Spring Break Pool Party decorating and serving great hors d’oeuvres is a must.

Pool parties hold Spring Break together; you can show off your best swimwear, chill out by the pool with your best buddies and your family.  Here are some recommendations on how to throw a successful Spring Break Pool Party:

Poolside Bar

If your oasis has a swim-up bar, you’re in luck.  But, if you don’t, then you can create one and hire a professional bartender also known as a mixologist.  Most of these experts in drinks come with amazing routines on how to mix drinks, creating a variety of delicious cocktails.  If you invite guests under the age of 21, ensure that soft drinks or alcohol-free mixes like a Shirley Temple, a Blackout or a Virgin Piña Colada are also on the beverage menu.

InflatablesPool Party Inflateables

The rage of any pool party includes inflatable flamingos, pizzas, palm trees, and pineapples.   These brightly colored inflatables provide the ultimate li-lo to chill out on as your guests float in the pool with a drink in hand.

Music

There are many DJ’s out there that can provide the perfect music for the perfect Spring Break party.  Expect to listen to the latest songs or provide the DJ with a playlist of songs you want them to play.  If you plan to have the event in the evening, expect them to bring light effects and, probably, smoke canons.

Photo Boothspring break party photobooth

If you have the inflatables, then a photo booth is in order.  Photo booths are one of the most requested services for any occasion. They’re not expensive, and helps make your event different from the rest.  Photo Booths are a great way to create lasting memories via a pool party, right?

Hors D’Oeuvres

A fancy name for snacks but it’s what college students crave. The possibilities for hors d’oeuvres you could serve are endless, you could get a bag of potato chips or tortilla chips and serve different dips.  Dips is what they will remember and creating an array of different flavors will make it unique.  Here are two simple dip recipes made from mixing one ingredient with sour cream:

Vegetable Chip Dip

Vegetable Dip

2 16 oz. of Sour Cream

2 Packets of Instant Vegetable Soup

In a large bowl, mix the two packets of the vegetable soup with the 32 ounces of sour cream thoroughly and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.

French Onion Chip Dip

French Onion Dip

2 16 oz. of Sour Cream

2 Packets of Instant French Onion Soup

In a large bowl, mix the two packets of the french onion soup with the 32 ounces of sour cream thoroughly and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.

A barbecue is also a perfect way to serve these hungry college kids.  You can also prepare party mix sandwiches hours in advance, and they are easy to make:

Spring Break Party Sandwiches

Party Sandwiches

1 Large Container of Spread Cheese

2 Cans of Deviled Ham

1 Loaf of Sandwich Bread

Paper Towels

  • Cut the borders of the sandwich bread and set aside.
  • In a bowl, place the whole contents of the cheese spread and the deviled ham. Mix them thoroughly.
  • Spread the mixture on each slice of bread and place them together.
  • After making the sandwiches, cut them into squares or triangles. Put the sandwiches on a serving tray.
  • Take a piece or pieces of paper towels; wet and ring out the excess water and place them on top of the tray. Moist paper towels help keep the sandwiches fresh while in the refrigerator.
  • Put the sandwiches in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Also, fresh fruit cups with watermelon, cantaloupe and white grapes are always a great hit in any pool party.

DecorationsSpring Break Cups

Inflatables don’t fall under decorations.  Go with the colors of spring with balloons, decorative cups, beer holders and plastic tablecloths to mark the occasion.  You can find all these decoration ideas at your local decorative store.

Don’t forget that at any event you have by your swimming pool, safety comes first.  Always have a first aid kit handy.
