Fall Pool Party

Plan an Awesome Fall-Themed Pool Party

In Party Planning by Platinum Pools

Fall is here, but the warm weather in Texas means the pool season may not be over yet.  It’s the perfect time to host a fall-themed pool party.  We have previously shared tips on creating a spooky-themed pool party, but what about fall occasions?  This blog provides fun ideas for planning a fall-themed pool party for football season.

Swimming or No Swimming – Your Choice

If you have a deck around your pool, you can still throw a “pool” party even if you won’t swim, especially if it’s too cold outside. Just make sure you let your guests know if they should bring their swimsuits or not. You can add a short message to your invitation to let them know. For example, you could say, “Our heated pool is still open even though the weather is getting cooler! Don’t forget your swimsuit!” or “We won’t be swimming during this event because it’s too cold, but we’ll have a fire pit going!”

Maximize Decorations

A season-themed party is an excellent opportunity to incorporate natural decorations, such as pumpkins, squash, leaves, fall flowers, and live plants. It is especially great if you prefer using authentic, locally sourced materials instead of plastic decorations imported from overseas.

Here are some ideas for live fall decorations:

  • A pumpkin display
  • Potted mums in various colors
  • A cornucopia
  • Painted branch bundles
  • Bowls filled with winter squash

Fall Themed Games & Entertainment

When it comes to selecting fall-themed games, you have plenty of options to choose from. You can even include a few summer games if the weather is still warm. Before deciding what games to play, it’s essential to consider the age group of your guests. While 10-year-olds are usually excited about games, 14-year-olds might not be as interested in some of those games. Additionally, it’s crucial to consider your group’s temperament, especially with adults.

Here are some ideas for games that you could play:

  • Giant Jenga
  • Cornhole
  • Outdoor Twister (ensure it is safely away from the pool!)
  • Marco Polo (you can play it either in or out of the pool!)
  • DIY photo booth with fall-themed props (Alternatively, you could hire a photo booth company if you’re not keen on DIY.)

Fall Foods

Fall foods, often considered comfort foods, may seem unusual for a pool party.  However, if you’ve ever celebrated Christmas with open windows, you know there is nothing wrong with pairing some delicious warm cheese dip with swimming.

So, don’t hesitate to serve all the scrumptious fall party foods! Here are a few ideas:

  • Add jalapenos to your melted cheese dip
  • Pumpkin roll
  • Mini burgers
  • Warm bread with flavored butter
  • Mashed potatoes and gravy (pot roast is also a good option for a small gathering)
  • Pumpkin pie
  • Chili
