Pool Day Checklist

In Featured Post by Platinum Pools

Summer days are synonymous with a swimming pool – whether it’s the one in your backyard, the neighborhood/community pool, or the one at a friend’s house.  No matter where you go, checking your pool day list twice is essential because it is frustrating to find that some of your essentials are not there.  We recommend some items that will help make your pool day a complete success.

Beach Bags

A waterproof, large, sturdy bag is essential to put in all your stuff.   It is better not to use plastic bags for your wet things, but a large, waterproof beach bag.  Also, a large bag with many compartments will hold everything your family wants to take with them.

Beach Towels

Take beach towels with you!  If you put them in the bottom of the bag, they will help absorb any water that might spill during traveling.

Water

Make sure you have plenty of drinking water on hand.  Whether going to someone else’s pool or your backyard pool, it’s important to have plenty of water on hand.  Keep a cooler of water on hand, so the kids do not have to keep running into the house to get water.  If you are at a community pool, you will not have to spend money at the snack bar if you have your water in hand.

Food

Keep healthy snacks on hand for in-between meals.  Bring cookies, carrots, and even sandwiches if you’ll be out all day.  Don’t forget paper towels or napkins.

Sunscreen is a Must

Never, ever forget to bring sunscreen with you.  Ensure that, whichever brand you choose, blocks UVA and UVB rays.  Remember to reapply every few hours, regardless of if you are wet, sweating, or not.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses protect your eyesight and prevent wrinkles from forming.  Do not squint all day!  It is best to get sunglasses that block both UVA and UVB rays, like sunscreen.

First Aid Kit

Pack a first aid kit that includes band-aids and antiseptic for any scrapes.

Extra Clothing

Ensure to bring a change of clothes in case the clothes your family is wearing get wet.  It will make the ride home much more pleasant.

Umbrella and Chairs

Bring a portable umbrella for extra protection from the sun.  A couple of comfortable chairs will also be helpful if you are unsure if there are enough chairs near the pool.

Pool Toys

Bring a few pool toys to keep them entertained if you have kids.  Inflatable pool toys will make for a fun afternoon.  Adding books, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and other easy-to-solve brain games adds extra entertainment and will keep everyone entertained and occupied.

Pool Shoes

Remember to pack waterproof shoes like flip-flops or those that are easy to put on and take off.  No one wants to slip into socks and lace-up shoes, especially if their feet are wet.
