The weather will not be kind to the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles, or the spectators at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis for Super Bowl LII. However, for Houston and surrounding areas the temperature will be a lovely 68°F on Sunday. So get out there and take advantage of your outdoor family room for a great Super Bowl party.
A 4K Smart TV with the killer speakers is fantastic! But nothing makes a party better than FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD!
Decorations also go a long way to make your party more than just a friendly gathering. This is not your regular Monday Night Football; this is the Super Bowl! It only takes a few small touches to make it unique.
Last year we gave you some great ideas about food. This year we’re going to change it up a bit, with other dishes that are warm and comforting at the same time:
Finger Food and More
Taco Station – have the taco shells and all the trimmings like pico de gallo, guacamole, and the most fearsome “pique” you can find ready for a do-it-yourself taco. Have your favorite choice of chicken, ground beef, pork or bean, but remember to keep the spices simple as each person has a different taste when it comes to spicy sauce.
Chorizo Queso Potato Skins – a great fondue is always a good option and easy to prepare.
Baguette Pizzas are another excellent choice, and their perfection is found in how you slice them.
Mini Cheese Popovers – a tasty alternative to the staple cracker and cheese.
You can never go wrong with having a few hamburgers and hot dogs, either for kids and picky eaters or just as an all around favorite go-to.
Of course, there’s the beer and the wine and other alcoholic beverages to serve your guests. But, if you are looking for something without alcohol, that goes great with your food, then a Sparkling Party Punch is the answer. Not only do adults love it, but the kids will also enjoy it too.
And don’t forget the cupcakes! You don’t have to bake them; the local supermarket will have plenty of choices ready for you, and will likely have them already decorated with the Super Bowl theme.
How you decorate will greatly set the tone of your party. Disposable plates with an homage to Super Bowl LII, can be found at your local party supply store or some supermarkets. While you’re there, remember to grab everything from paper napkins to cups and tablecloths that will make you feel like you are at the US Bank stadium.
